Patsy is the visionary behind the company, bringing 43 years of high-touch customer service and jewelry design experience to the table. David is a serial entrepreneur and efficiency-obsessed engineer with over 100 patents across various industries. Together, the pair form a match made in jewelry manufacturing heaven. 

Patsy has been living and breathing jewelry for 43 years. From custom jewelry design and sales to owning her own brick-and-mortar store, she has experience in every aspect of the business. Not only does she have six different collections to her name and lines in stores throughout the country—she also holds a GIA Graduate Gemologist degree. This highly sought-after credential gives her the rare combination of both gemstone and design expertise, allowing her to grade diamonds, understand the stone market, and identify how various properties of metal work best for jewelry manufacturing. 

Despite her years of expertise as a private jewelry designer and store owner, Patsy was not immune to the segmented and disorganized jewelry manufacturing process. The success of her business depended on the reliability of her contractors, many of whom were late on deadlines and delivered mediocre quality. This highly inefficient and often unreliable system jeopardized her ability to offer excellent customer service to her clients and left her feeling frustrated, helpless, and creatively drained.

Patsy knew that if she wanted to scale her designs, keep her clients happy, and grow her business, she needed to find a better way to manufacture her pieces. She also knew the jewelry supply chain issue was much larger than her—no other jewelry designers or stores in Fort Worth did their own casting or production. That’s when she decided to get David involved, knowing his engineering and manufacturing expertise was the missing piece the jewelry industry never knew it needed. 

Patsy and David founded DesigNova Studios with a mission to provide a seamless jewelry manufacturing process all in one place—using cutting-edge equipment for the utmost precision in prototyping, casting, and more. The Wessons appointed jewelry designer, Aleta Keeling, as DesigNova's Operations Manager. With decades of experience on the design, manufacturing, and brick-and-mortar side of the jewelry business, Aleta was the perfect fit to compliment Patsy and David's expertise while bringing her own expert perspective to the table. This innovative company automates the quoting process and uses state-of-the-art technology for CAD/CAM, prototyping, stone cutting and setting, engraving, and more. By taking care of all aspects of the manufacturing process, DesigNova gives designers and jewelers their time and energy back to create more art, serve more clients, and make more sales. 

The Wessons have invested in top-tier facilities, equipment and technology in Fort Worth to serve clients near and far. Because they value transparency into their process, their production room is always on full display.
